Berlin Syndrome – The Life Experience Might Take A Detour

By Abia Gill

So what I want to talk about today is this unique and peculiar movie that drove my sanity into an outer space and holds my sheer interest right from the start, Yes, the movie I watched recently i:e: ‘Berlin Syndrome’ which gives an exotic and nerve wrecking taste to those who love to watch the related movies that are based on obsession , crazy love, real stalkers etc.  This holiday romance turned its taste to a scary obsessed relationship that one would never want to last.

An Australian photojournalist Clare was on an excursion vocations in Berlin where she keeps herself busy in taking photographs and experiencing new landscapes, however on this interesting trip she met a German guy Andi where she holds an immediate attraction. The two started going out and meanwhile Clare decided to visit his home to spend some time. However , it all turned upside down when Clare found out the truth about Andi and may seems a lot upsetting as Clare was abducted and locked down in Andi’s secret place that was away from his real home.

The movie showed Clare’s struggle everyday to find her solace and be able to get of this mess, but each day brought dismal that was depreciating her soul. Seems like Andi was suffering from a personality disorder, he might looked a nice and decent guy but in reality there was something else that made Clare suffer for quite a long time.

The masterpiece is directed by Cate Shortland and written by Shaun Grant and Melanie Joosten. Stars, Teresa Palmer and Max Riemelt have done a promising job and made the screen play worth a watch.
